On Monday, June 3rd, through Friday, June 7th,

the church of Christ in Cleveland will humbly present their 2013 Vacation Bible School, for ALL Cleveland youth,

ages 2 through 6th grade, from 9:00 – 11:30 A.M.

This year’s V.B.S. is entitled:

“It’s A Blue Ribbon Life; A Study Of The Fruit Of The Spirit.”

“Set within the fun and excitement of a typical old-fashioned county fair, ‘It’s a Blue Ribbon Life’ offers an in-depth study of each of the nine fruit of the spirit listed in Galatians 5. Looking to Jesus as the personification of each of these fruit, the VBS teaches us practical ways to display these blue ribbon fruit in our lives.”

Lessons to include the following:

Monday; Lesson 1:

Longsuffering and Faithfulness

The Temptation of Jesus (Matthew 4:1-11)

Tuesday; Lesson 2:

Kindness and Goodness

Wednesday; Lesson 3:

Joy and Peace

Jesus Calms The Storm

Thursday; Lesson 4:

Gentleness and Self-Control

Jesus In The Garden Of Gethsemane

(Matthew 26:36-56).

Friday; Lesson 5:

Love

Jesus Gives His Life

(Luke 23).

And then, there is also the wonderful wrap-up and award ceremony to follow on Friday evening, June 7th, for the entire family of all student attendees, beginning at 7:00! At that time, all family members are heartily encouraged to please come and enjoy a free “pizza and pop” supper; to view the rooms and see what their children have accomplished and completed during their week of work and study; and to witness the award presentations ceremony for all of the students from the week who have excelled in one area or another such as perfect attendance, Bible class participation, Bible verse memorization, and/or etc.

Some may ask, “Just how important is this anyway?” Well, we read in the sacred text how from several thousand years ago, God instructed parents and grandparents to faithfully pass along His glorious message to the next generation. See: Deuteronomy 4:9, 6:5-7; Proverbs 22:6; and especially Ephesians 6:1-4:

‘Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.’

We here who comprise the Cleveland church of Christ realize just how difficult it can be today to do exactly that. We understand that in a world of single parents, two-income house-holds, and the incredibly busy schedules that so many of us are so often forced to keep, that everyone needs a little help now and then to carry out the Lord’s commandments as stated above. And so, we stand ready to help you by providing outstanding educational events like this.

Whether your children attend a local denomination or have never been in a church building before, they are warmly invited and wonderfully welcome at the Cleveland church of Christ’s colossal 2013 Vacation Bible School event!!!

We are respectfully requesting that all parents interested in registering their children ahead of time for this huge, fun-filled, and Biblically-educational event, might do so by contacting Doug Dingley at (918) 358-3952; or via e-mail at: doug.dingley@gmail.com. If you for some reason cannot register your child in advance, then please plan to have them here at the church building between 8:30 & 9:00 Monday, June 3rd, to register.

We thank you for your interest and look forward to your child’s attendance to come, learn, and explore some of these vital and life-giving truths from God’s holy word during our big V.B.S. summer event. For further information or answers to any of your questions, please contact our minister and evangelist, Douglas Dingley, at: (918) 358-3952; or doug.dingley@gmail.com.

We look forward to serving the Lord Jesus Christ, by serving those of you who allow us the precious privilege to do so, both this week and always. To God be the glory! As His ‘word perfect,’ perfect word says:

“…the churches of Christ greet you.” (Romans 16:16)

How seriously should we take it? And just what exactly does it mean when Jesus commanded through the Holy Spirit inspired pen of the apostle Paul to the first century congregation of the church of Christ that worked and worshipped in Colossae, to “let their speech be seasoned with salt?” And finally, how faithfully can you fulfill “The Challenge” as given in the conclusion of this sermon?

Have you ever heard the old saying that goes something like this: “In the church, 80% of the work gets done by 20% of the people”? As the first of the two sermons below shows, that statistic wouldn’t be too awfully far off for at least one group of God’s people as outlined in the bible. And if you’re one of those 20% doing the lion’s share of the work while others are “taking it easy” and not even doing their own part, well, life can get pretty frustrating – and in fact, can get to be downright discouraging to be sure! In fact, it can both burn you up and burn you out if you’re not careful!

So; what exactly is such a hard-working Christian man or woman to do when they see so very few others around them who seem to be willing to serve the Lord as they should? The answer lies in the below… Enjoy! And be encouraged!

These days there just seems to be ”doom and gloom” everywhere about us. Political, social, cultural and world events and tragedies often weigh down hard upon us. But when they do, we must not lose focus and become so engrossed and entrenched in them that they cause us to become depressed, frustrated, and fearful. Christians are not supposed to have to live in constant fear and depression, but in the peace and confidence of the God in Heaven Who is far bigger than all of the world’s problems put together since time began. But how can Christians manage to maintain that hopeful, faithful and peaceful focus, in light of recent events and tragedies like the Sandy Hook Massacre and Boston Marathon bombing for example? Perhaps the following two audio sermons will be good food for thought to begin to help those who, in general, were not ”affected personally” by such events, to better deal with the daily ordeal of the evening news/bad news, by focusing more on a good daily dose of the good news/great news of the Word of God (Colossians 3:1-4).

And, as an aside for those families who were directly affected and suffered such tragic and needless losses in these two events, please know that God knows, and that He alone is the God of all comfort. Seek Him. Find Him. Love Him. He did not cause, nor is He responsible for such tragedies as these. People are; people who choose not to do what He said – and we all have a free will to either choose to obey Him or not, every day that we live. When we do, we and those around us are blessed; when we don’t, people – including ourselves – eventually get hurt (See Deuteronomy 28). It’s really that simple. So allow His love to start your healing. After all, He knows exactly what it’s like to lose a much beloved One to a tragic death – and He did that for you! Also know that you are being prayed for by many and will not soon be forgotten.

We’ve all been there… someone we love decides to “go prodigal” on the Father and His family for the allure of the worldly pigpen’s seeming pleasures. And it breaks our hearts because we know from the word what they’re in for, both here and hereafter. But what can we do? What ought we to do? How do we respond in such a way so as to not burn all of their bridges behind them, which are their only way home should they see the error of their ways? Hopefully, the first of the following two lessons will help answer that question, while at the same time, assuaging some of the guilt that those left behind in the Father’s house may sometimes allow Satan to levy against them, even after they’ve done everything in their power to prevent their beloved sibling prodigal’s trip into perdition.

The second sermon sort of goes along with it as a sequel, hopefully showing the needlessness of the tragedy resulting from anyone’s lack of understanding, that no matter where they’ve been or what they’ve done, God’s grace is indeed greater than their sin, and that they can always come home in sincere and life altering repentance, if they but choose to believe God unto salvation, instead of Satan unto destruction. May God bless you as you listen to these two sermons with an open heart and an open bible, and please, PLEASE feel free to share their biblical message with anyone who may need them for whatever reason in their life! To God be the glory; always and in all ways!

For a number of years now it has been our express privilege here at the Cleveland congregation of the Lord’s church, to be imminently blessed by God, to host some fantastically insightful and faith-building Gospel Meetings. Great yet humble men of God who are fearlessly faithful brothers and wonderful proclaimers of God’s holy word have blessed us beyond measure with the truths they have brought forth for us from God’s word. (While there have been many over the years, I only have archived, digitally-recorded lessons from the last three, pre-Nathan Honeycutt in 2013.) Brothers like Lonnie Ritchie (preacher for the Magnolia, TX, church of Christ; www.magnoliachurchofchrist.com) in 2010; Phil Sanders (Co-host of “In Search of the Lord’s Way”; www.searchtv.org) in 2011; and Ben Williams (preacher for the Glenpool, OK, church of Christ, www.glenpoolchurchofchrist.com, and www.darkcanopy.com) in 2012. It is my intention to post all of these past three gospel meetings’ sermons soon, for the express purpose of blessing immensely, all of those who will give them a listen. The only reason they have not previously been posted is due to a full schedule and an oversight on my part previous to this year – an oversight I intend to correct post haste to the benefit and blessing of our beloved brotherhood. Be one who is blessed! Return to this site in the near future for your own benefit and give them a listen! To God be the glory; always and in all ways!

In 2010 we were very blessed and privileged to have as our gospel meeting speaker, brother Lonnie Ritchie, a devoted servant of the Lord I have known personally since the late eighties when he conducted a very inspiring gospel meeting at the congregation of the Lord’s church where my wife and I had just recently been converted in the state of Maine. Brother Ritchie, who serves as the evangelist and an elder of the Lord’s church in Magnolia, Texas, has been a close friend and an inspiration to me for years. He is also the author of a complete, New Testament commentary set, entitled, “A Layman’s Simple Commentary on the New Testament.” The impact and influence of the lessons below speak for themselves. Thank you brother Ritchie.
